First, before we get the webazine rolling we wanted to gracefully acknowledge the passing of a Legend, the great Aretha Franklin. The courage she expressed in her music during the times of struggle was not only brave, but absolutely remarkable. She was able to harness her powers and helped with diversity in ways unimaginable. When she paved her way, it allowed for many blacks to be identified within a long-going battle.
13East Entertainment can recognize the struggles of the elders in which have made it easy for blacks as youth to walk without being persecuted. To eat wherever they enjoy dining, to sit where they like on a bus. It is because of the struggles of the elders the reasons why blacks had a NWO who relished in freedom of speach, or could embrace an expressive Tupac Shakur or handle the honesty from Jay-Z without being hung in the towns center for truth. 13EE would like to recognize the strength and leadership of the elders, as well as say thank you for making life just a bit easier so the disadvantaged can be whatever they choose to be in life. Hello and welcome back to the 13East Entertainment family! We have so much to show you this summer. Once again we tried to bundle-in as much as we possibly can without overwhelming you or the webazine. However, whatever we cannot fit into this Summer 2018 Issue is automatically inserted into the video version of EBN, located on our 13East Entertainment YouTube channel. As you know, 13East Entertainment and its network: EastWear13, Eastern Empire Music and PeterPaul Foundation of Oakland, is just in its baby stages but it appesrs to be moving along pretty well. As the brainchild of author VS Nesby, its beginning blooms is making Ms. V pretty proud to watch flourish. This years EastBeast News is such exciting Issues to share. There is a lot to show and teach along the way and cannot wait to share our exploits as we search for various artists with cultural style around the globe. Our Summer travels continue forward as we extended ourselves to the islands off of the coast of the United States. In this daring Issue, 13East Entertainment touches down in Key West. VS Nesby. Cutting through what appeared to be the back of the island we walked to a main street. This beautiful and eye catching building not only happened to have a name, but as you walked past, life sized sculptures caught your eye around the Key West Museum of Art and History to lure you in. Check out the EastBeast News video version on the 13East Entertainment YouTube channel for a visual of the human sized works. As we strolled through the crowded, tourist infected island our taste buds and sights of the new location were awakened. The day was hot...very hot. We decided to catch some shade at the beach and swim a bit while looking for fresh talent along the way.
Oh My Gosh aren't they just LOVE! These beauties popped right through the lense and I was more than thankful to share the beauty with you all. As we continued on searching for the beach or at least some shade and an icee, we came across a very monumental monument. ![]() Picture of the conch blowing greeter is a monument to eternalize Albert Kee, the unofficial, goodwill ambassador of Key West. He stands right next to the other offbeat monument located the most southern part of the United States which is exactly 90 miles to Cuba.
Slowly feeling the sun burn into my soul, we pushed forth with severe interest in the island and it's findings. Not too far from the Cuba point, there layed a wonderful house-like conservatory full of beautiful butterflies, showcases a few flamingo and various birds. The butterflies are not at all shy and will land on you at any given moment. Talk about being one with nature! We kept it trucking, dying of dehydration yet determined to find the beach that Ms. V remember everyone speaking so highly of in the 1980's on The Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous. yeah..yeah she knew she was quite a few decades and some yeaars off. None the less, she still remembered and was determined to view it just to say, "YES, I have conquered a bucket list item!" She has come a long way from being just a little german girl who barely spoke any english and lacked knowledge. The calmed smile she placed on her face displayed her peace. She didn't speak much during the trip and now I understand why. It was like a calming. A small celebration within her of pride. Even I had to take a step back when she quietly explained the importance to create a moment, or even "something" so magnificent. A single parent, hard working and determined to achieve the things she felt she is owed. Due to Ms. V's efforts, her daughters were able to stand in the Atlantic ocean and "kick their feet." Ms. V stood proud that something so small gave her the largest impact of satisfaction. I started to witness her eyes water but then she snapped out of her memories and regained her strength. The quick whisper that she released from her lips "I never thought," followed by the moment of silence, released a very powerful moment. She began to smile more after this. After the forever beach explorations Ms. V stumbled upon what appeared to be a small hut. She adventured in (of course) and fell upon Fort West Martello. The Key West Garden Club holds down the fort with maintenance and restoration in an effort to keep the tradition going. They have done an impeccable job restoring the gardens after the 2017 Hurricane. If anyone wanted more information I made sure to zoom in for you to read the history but also expose the website if anyone was further interested. Small donations are allowed and collected in a small wooden box upon your exit however the general admission is free. I again zoomed in and tried to show everyone the pictures that they displayed showing their efforts. They wanted to show everyone what it all looked like before the 2017 hurricane, the devastation caused by the hurricane and then the final pictures of what they have done in clean up thus far. The Martello Gardens are absolutely stunning. It almost felt like you were transported into a Eden full of life and bliss. The garden sits right on the the Ocean's Gulf and shimmers under the sunlight, however the main focus was the swifty Gecko's that scurried along the tree's. Even though two videos were taped here, Ms. V is a city girl with a country heart...which means as soon as she saw Gecko's she was fascinated but she ran the hell out of there after the lizards went on a sprint. His originality and smoothness between topics was worth the time spent to enjoy on a late night. You guys, if you never heard of him, google and watch a stand up or two, then go visit his shows. He's pretty funny. 13EE usually record snippets of comedy shows, but due to such a large summer issue, Ms.V felt as though a snippet wasn't needed at this time...which is unfortunate because the more of you getting to see and watch who he is, the more of you would most likely go see a show. But as we grow, the more we know! We'll catch him again and next time we'll be prepared to record his works.
Having a few jokes with the guys and before I knew it, I should "LOOK BACK AT IT" and you can tell the 2 that were paying attention. The fella's struck a GQ pose so quick! Lol. They wanted to make sure I got the good sides. The return back was a bit less stressful due to no time restraints. So it was kind of lax. Besides traveling to recruit worldly sounds unheard or barely know in the U.S, our New Years Eve BlowOut WINNER, BUMPY103 was having a whirl on the scenes himself. Besides Ms. V representing him to others across the scenes, he became a definite topic amongst the SOCME(social media) arena. His artistry and masterful skill has been highlighted by major beams @AllRiseNation, Rhythm Rave Radio, WINDCRadio, @RappersIQ and several shows throughout the summer but Sip Slow Sunday in July 2018 is THE spot that gave him his opportunity to kill the mic his way! BUMPY103 presented his new song "Why..." and made sure people could remember his name! ![]() Even though 13EE do not post stats, this single is quickly climbing the 13EE charts as becoming his top 3! His debut to 13EE was F* the Game Up, and it is still ringing through our top list. His debut of Berserk this year has a strong hold but cannot hold up to "Shorty Stop Playin" placed second on our charts. "Why" is rising up strong but we will see what the fans say in the future. While his music has a definate 60% lead in the 13EE charts, no one has had the audacity to compare themselves to the champ. BUMPY103 is featured here standing strong on his vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico. He forged an escape over to the other U.S Islands to enjoy his birthday celebration after a summer of hard work and dedication. He mixed, mingled and did some mild networking while gaining one hell of a tan. I hope you enjoyed your birthday champ! ** As you all know since we hit the islands this year, it was only right for us to make sure we could provide the musical flavor to represent it!
Whewh....all this heat can only be provided by the one and the only EastBeast News! Dont forget... https://t.co/5DduY6KXAG
