ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JUNE 22, 2019 Welcome back to 13East Entertainment's own insider webazine about all things 13EE! Once again we cannot believe how sudden rotations to 13EE is churning to quick yearly ends. It seemed as though we just began the year with planning and suddenly, the year wisked by on a cold shallow breeze. When you are striving, you never tend to notice the steps taken to equal your mile. Successess achieved sometimes commendeer as insurmounable hoopla when you first begin. But, baby steps leads to mountains when you look back and collect the steps taken. With that being said, never give up. If your Picasso can only be drawn one squiggle at a time, then so be it. Eventually, with determination and focus it will lead to your greatness. The one lesson that can be learned in this issue, is to have faith in yourself and the things you do when some opportunities arrive. Here at 13EE, we gladly express the word "some" because not all opportuniities are good opportunities. This is a widely used statement when either handeling affairs of business or teaching others how to thrive within opportunities provided. With this being said, some of the opportunities presented to 13EE gave us a push in expansion. Admittingly we were not quite ready to handle the opportunity on offer, however where there is a WILL there is a WAY. When the logistics were finally panned out, we were excited to expand and update many of the 13EE's departments. Ms. V's personal efforts in other things were more than inspiring for those who watched throughout the winter months on Youtube or Instagram. Snippets and insiders peeks are posted before our full tea spillage every quarter. So as always, we welcome you back and we are seriously excited to reveal to you all in full an insider peak of Winter footprints from 13East Entertainment.
Ms. V was asked to assist an after school program started by 2 teenage girls and pushed by the Cultural Director, Michelle Cureton. It was explained in great lengths as to how the opportunity would benefit the students. How the opportunity could push them towards other opportunities or at least create a stable foundation for them to enjoy for the winter to summer season. 13East Entertainment could see that the participating kids needed help and was definitely surprised by the request. Despite her mental state and emotional turmoil, Ms. V sluggishly participated in it's first after school sponsorship towards a after school program. The kids who chose to participate were upon the grades from Freshman to Senior. The program ran for about 7 months, beginning December and lasting to the first week in June. Activity and dedication allowed them to feature in their very own video shoot and multiple performances. The program is a step team consisting of ocular, otolary and rythmetic movements created by HBCU's (Historic Black College or University) as far back as 1906 and evolved in 1908.
This discussion was necessary for the opportunities coming up. Valentines Day was the perfect opportunity for the team to show their drive in economics. Luckily they were listening. With a little team effort and some creativity, the development of "Boo Bags" were created. School teens had access to provide their 'in love' counterparts candy bags either from them or through special delivery. The Dragon Maze Steppers, along with myself were able to show some amazing store-front flare when it came time to selling! Due to some team effort and their hustle, they were able to assist with their portion of the proceeds for their very own set of uniforms, 13EE and PeterPaul Foundation Of Oakland were able to assist with the rest. Over the course of these 7 months these girls have learned dedication, discipline, creativity, matching desire to achieving end results, ambition, loyalty, increased hand and eye coordination, increased otolary development and establishing confidence. All things that are at the heart of Step. It is such a hard time being a teen and learning yourself and the world around it. To push such a needed development is fundamental at this time in life. It was unfortunate the mounting disrespect supplied by others towards this team. The positivity the team upheld outside of it was phenomenal. It was unfortunate that the times recalled the 1965 school integration issues. The children that were humble and excited to progress in their own community were now forced to see indifference and opposition. It was their peers who suddenly taught them a totally different view of another race before the classes began. It was extremely disheartening to be involved in or watch. The fact that I was called upon to protect the rights of children left a sour taste in my mouth beyond measures, but I did what I had to do without hesitation. However, the disrespect will be acknowledged and discussed publicly or politically when the time comes. As for now, we appreciate those who chose to participate in the teams activities and the relationships created along the way. We hope to establish more viable relationships in the future while gaining a slow expansion amongst multiple communities. We definitely appreciate YOU, the 13EE fans for watching those Youtube videos! The more you watch, the more you have continued to assist others within, around and close to your community. It was due to those kids that for springing life back into Ms. V. She may not be fully at herself, but at least some of her WILL has returned. ***
